How to rent a car in Yerevan
You can rent a car in several ways. First, at the airport upon arrival. Secondly, already on the spot in one of the rental offices, after checking into a hotel or apartment.
Finally, the easiest way is to book a car online, specifying the desired dates of rental and the required characteristics of the vehicle. You will find the search forms below.
When accepting the car, you should carefully assess its condition. All scratches and chips, if any, should be recorded in the act. Just in case, you can take pictures of the car from all sides, so that there are no questions when returning it.
Usually the car is issued with a full tank. You should return it fully fueled to avoid unnecessary expenses. A certain amount of money may also be withheld for body washing and dry cleaning of the interior if the renter returns the car dirty, smoky or littered interior.
Further we will consider in details where and how to rent a car in Yerevan, what documents will be needed, how much a day of rent costs, what is included in the price, and so on.

Rent a car in Yerevan without a driver
A trip to Armenia is first of all mountains. On serpentines, although they are not the most difficult, it is better to move on a four-wheel drive car with an engine capacity of 1.6 liters or more. In winter, you should pay attention to a powerful crossover, which will not only pull up and down hills, but also will not let you down on a snowy highway.
The roads in the country are far from ideal. For ordinary tourist trips you should choose a car with high clearance and good suspension. Of course, the locals dash around in “nine cars”, but they know the terrain like the back of their hand, so they have an advantage.
Localrent
The aggregator Localrent, which entered the market in 2011, cooperates primarily with local rental companies of a particular tourist city. One of its advantages is considered a small security deposit.
Please note that most of the renters do not book a specific make and model, but a category of cars. Under one category are united cars similar in characteristics and equipment (type of gearbox, engine capacity, etc.).
Street rentals give out a specific car, as their fleet is small.
Price for car rental in Yerevan
The price depends on the class of car, insurance, rental period, type of gearbox, additional services. The price is partly influenced by the demand: in summer there are more tourists, and cars are rented more often, so the rental companies slightly increase the rates.
A compact economy-class car costs $38-50 per day, a crossover – from $53, a luxury car – from $60, a minivan – from $6.
The price includes standard insurance, unlimited mileage, taxes and fees.
The longer the rental, the cheaper the rental per day. In the off-season, renters can attract future renters with discounts, bonuses, and promotions.
When booking a car online, the future renter sees what the tariff consists of. The cost is fixed at the time of booking and will not change again. A voucher with booking details will be sent to the specified mail.

Deposit
When booking a car through an aggregator or on the official website, a certain amount will be pre-authorized on the renter’s credit card, which is not deducted from the account. On average, it amounts to $200-250.
The deposit is necessary for the renter. This way he will be sure that the renter will return the vehicle in the same condition and with a fully refueled tank, that is, as it was issued. If everything is in order with the vehicle and the hirer has no claims, the amount will be returned in full within a week on average.
Insurance
The basic price necessarily includes MTPL insurance, less often both MTPL and CASCO (Casualty and Collision). Standard insurance does not cover damage to windows and wheels. All damages above the deductible are covered by Super hull insurance, which is issued and paid for separately.
Additional services
Together with the car you can rent a child seat of the required category, navigator, Wi-Fi modem, bicycle mount, etc.
Another popular service is a second driver in the contract. The additional driver must meet the age and experience requirements, and his passport and license will be needed to draw up the contract.
It is possible to travel outside Armenia with a rented car. Going to Georgia is an additional option, for which rental companies may charge a special fee.
