Tips from Travelers in Armenia
Insurance
Medical insurance is not required for air travel to Armenia, but we recommend getting it. The state does not cover medical care for foreigners, so you must pay for treatment yourself. Make sure your policy covers outdoor activities and chronic conditions.
If you enter the country by car via Turkey and Georgia, you must have insurance. Coverage for foreigners must be at least $30,000, and the vehicle must have a Green Card.
Safety
Armenia is a safe country for tourists. You can travel alone in Yerevan and popular destinations without concern. Street crime levels remain low.
In tourist areas, you may encounter minor scams, such as inflated prices, unfavorable exchange rates, or occasional pickpocketing. To avoid issues, use official exchange offices, check taxi fares in apps, and keep an eye on your belongings.
Take extra care on the roads. Drivers do not always yield to pedestrians, and mountain roads can be narrow and winding. If you rent a car, pay attention to local driving habits and road conditions.
