The Armenian government has made a decision to create a new free economic zone “Mailer” on the territory of the ski resort of the same name.

The Armenian government on Thursday at a regular session made a decision on the establishment of a new free economic zone (FEZ) “Mailer” in Yeghipatrush community of Aparan region of Aragatsotn marz.
According to the justification, the establishment of the FEZ is aimed at promoting tourism development in Armenia, opening new jobs, attracting investments, as well as shaping a healthy lifestyle through the construction of a ski resort meeting high regional standards, which will contribute to increasing the country’s tourism attractiveness and sustainable socio-economic development.
The organizer of the resort is making large-scale investments in the FEZ to create appropriate infrastructure, primarily a cable car and ski slopes, as well as an artificial snowmaking system, an ice rink, hotels, a restaurant, other entertainment centers, internal communications and FEZ infrastructure. Part of the infrastructure investments has already been implemented, the program continues.
Earlier it was reported that about AMD 100 billion is planned to be invested in “Mailer Mountain Resort” ski resort in Yeghipatrush.
As of January 2025, about AMD 27 billion has already been invested in the development of the resort, and another AMD 10 billion is planned to be invested this year. It is planned that the complex will serve 500 thousand tourists a year and will be able to attract tourist flows from Russia, Iran and Europe.
In August 2024, the territory of “Mailer” was recognized as a free economic zone, and “FEZ Mailer” LLC was granted the status of a free economic zone organizer.
Today there are four free economic zones in Armenia – “Alliance”, ‘Meridian’, “Meghri” and ECOS.
